Raremark founder, Julie Walters won the award for “Best Investment in a High Growth Woman Founder” at the UK Business Angels Association (UKBAA) Angel Investment Awards 2016, which took place in London last night. The UKBAA is a cornerstone of the UK’s early-stage growth and investment community, and its annual awards recognize the very best achievements in this field.
Julie founded Raremark in January 2015 with a mission to transform one million lives in rare disease. She previously co-founded two other companies: Tudor Reilly Health, a pioneer in online clinical trial recruitment and retention; and Media Speak, for communications training.
Julie said: “I’m thrilled to achieve this recognition among such a distinguished group of entrepreneurs and hope it inspires more women to set up and run high-growth businesses.”
The Cass Entrepreneurship Fund, which is a member of the UKBAA alongside many other early-stage UK funds, led the recent investment round into Raremark. Helen Reynolds, Investment Director of the Fund, said: “Managing a growth business takes real skill and a careful cultivation of resources to leverage market opportunities. We’re delighted to be part of Raremark’s success in providing capital and broader resources to support ongoing business growth.”
